Wahl Walkabout Tour

Audra and I went to see Clinton Anderson yesterday in Jacksonville. What a nice facility they have up there. We got there around 9 am just in time for Clinton to come into the ring and the music to start. He put on a fantastic show and clinic. I have seen some of his videos before but never had the opportunity to go to one of his clinics. He is very much the showman and presents his ideas clearly with just enough info to make a person want to buy his tack and videos. I did learn one thing that I have been doing wrong in my roundpen training and can't wait to try out my new knowledge on Rainy the pony that I just got in. She is very pushy with alot of Pony attitude and these new skills should straighten her right out.

I did breakdown and purchase one of his sticks and one of his videos that I had been wanting. All of his tack was 15% off and his videos were 25% off and considering we had recieved free tickets to the show and no shipping cost I felt they were a wise purchase. The tickets they sent me were for Saturday only so even though I wanted to go back for the Sunday show I decided against it.

Clintons demo horses were very broke but more behind the bit with more face contact than I like to see. I know he was only trying to show how flexible they were but I still dont think a horse needs to have thier chin to thier chest or thier head to your waist to be able to work correctly. I gotta give the guy credit though as he sure rides alot.  If you have ever watched his videos that is one of the main things that will stand out in your mind....ride, ride, ride until you get it right.

Of all the famous trainers out there I really like him the best. He isn't abusive to horses but he doesn't put up with any crap either AND he doesn't try to hide anything from you like some other trainers do. If the horse needs to be smacked he smacks it but he is just as quick to praise also.

If you ever get a chance to see his show certainly go as it was totally worth it even if I had to pay to get in. I took a few pics with the phone and most of them didn't turn out, but here are the ones that did.
